  • Bus Driver Shortages Due to Illness 1/22/2023

    Tomorrow, Monday, January 23rd, due to bus driver shortages caused by illness, there will be no bus service to Mountain School and Bess Maxwell buses will be delayed by 15 minutes for general education students.

  • US 101 Last Chance Grade Open to One-Way Traffic

     

    Road closure: Today at 10:15 AM, US 101 at Last Chance Grade was blocked to both lanes due to a slide. As of 11:20 AM this morning, the road has been cleared and is open to one-way controlled traffic.

     

    If the situation changes, we'll make sure to update you as soon as we get information.

  • *UPDATE 1/5/2023 @ 5:45 AM - High Wind Warning*

     

    All schools and bus routes will operate as usual this morning. Families will be notified if transportation services are unavailable for any of our routes. If the power goes out for a significant amount of time this morning, and we cannot provide lunch, the District will be forced to dismiss school early. Please know that due to road conditions, individual schools may be affected.

     

    Communication with families will be sent by call, text, app, email, and through our website at dnusd.org. If you do not have power or access to the internet this morning, please listen to 97.9 KPOD FM or 94.3 KCRE FM radio for up-to-date information.

     

    High Wind Warning Issued for Del Norte County 1/4/2023

     

    The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a high wind warning for Del Norte County over the next 24 hours. The forecast is for wind gusts of 40-60 mph, with the possibility of gusts exceeding 70 mph. The NWS warning includes the possibility of downed trees and numerous power outages throughout the county.

     

    At this time, all schools are scheduled to be open tomorrow, Thursday, January 5th. If road conditions permit, bus services will be available. If transportation services are unavailable for one or more routes, an announcement will be made on 97.9 KPOD FM or 94.3 KCRE FM.  Families at specific locations throughout the county may also receive a phone call if their normal pickup is not accessible.  In the event that power is and remains out for a significant amount of time, and we are unable to provide lunch, the District will be forced to dismiss school early.  Please know that due to road conditions, individual schools may be affected.

Gasquet Mountain School is a gem here in Del Norte County. I am honored to be a part of this amazing Mountain Lion team! We are a STEM school focused on environmental science. We feature a rigorous engineering program and implement Project Lead the Way curriculum in all grades K-8.

Our entire staff is committed to providing each student with the highest quality education possible. We know how important it is to continue to work with our active parent group and community to support all of our students.
