Hands, Face, Space, and Home - Help Keep Del Norte Open
There are many perspectives on COVID-19 in our community, but we must ask that we all work together, in order to keep our schools open.
Schools in California are subject to state and local law and Public Health mandates. In order for our schools to remain open, we must meet the requirements set forth by those institutions.
That is why we also ask that you remember the following: Hands, Face, Space, and Home Wash your hands, wear your mask, physically distance, and stay at home if you’re sick.
If you travel out of the area or host visitors from out of the area and have children in Del Norte Schools, the District asks that you keep your children home for 14 days after you return from travel or your guests leave. We recommend that you request independent study for any school days that your child may miss.
It’s in everyone’s interest, to help #KeepDNopen.
Remember - Hands, Face, Space, and Home
This is not forever, just for now.

Welcome to Del Norte Community School, Home of the Ospreys!
We believe all students are capable of success. Our goal is to identify and address the needs and strengths of each student in a safe, respectful academic environment. We encourage students to pursue their academic goals with their individual interests in mind. At Community School, daily attendance is extremely important, homework is available for all students, and good behavior is expected by everyone.
School attendance is mandatory until the age of 18, and many of our students have attendance contracts. There are direct correlations between school attendance, student performance, and success. With instructional time of only 4 hours per day, full-time attendance is very important for students to work with teachers and staff. If your student is going to miss school, please call office staff or make arrangements for independent study school work.
Students work on a variety of subjects each day, and homework assignments are available. All students work at their own pace. Assignments can and should be done outside of school hours. A student is never truly done with their work until they have a diploma.
Behavior and attendance are common reasons for students to attend Del Norte Community School. Our school is designed to provide individualized support with behavior, social and emotional skills and of course, academics. As all schools in the County and District, our three main rules are to be safe, respectful, and responsible. Additionally, this is a closed campus. An initial enrollment meeting is required to attend Community School. Individual needs concerning behavior and academics are addressed and goals are set during the initial enrollment meeting.
