Mission Statement: Empowering students to be tomorrow's innovators.
Vision: Gasquet Mountain Elementary School is an environmental science focused, K-8 STEM program. Mountain School promotes a safe, respectful and responsible learning environment that honors the diversity and culture of all students. Learners are immersed in technology-rich environments, which include access to tools that bolster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. At Mountain Elementary, students have 1 to 1 technology devices as well as access to innovative technologies including a 3D printer, Green Screen video production, and robotics. Our learners have the opportunity to work in multi-grade classrooms and learn from each other as well as their teachers. The goals of Mountain Elementary School are to incorporate STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) daily into the core curriculum with an emphasis on environmental science. In a world that’s becoming increasingly complex, where success is driven not only by what you know, but by what you can do with what you know, it’s more important than ever for our youth to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to solve tough problems, gather and evaluate evidence, innovate solutions, and make sense of information. These are the types of skills that students learn by studying science, technology, engineering, and math—subjects collectively known as STEM. We continue to focus on literacy and mathematics as well as the newly adopted Next Generation Science Standards. Currently, the school has three classrooms, a K-2, 3-5, and a 6-8. Teachers employ a variety of instructional strategies to personalize and support learning for students. Some of our supports and programs include: Google Classroom for digital content and personalized learning, Environmental Education Initiative (EEI) environmental science curriculum, and Project Lead the Way engineering and design curriculum. The entire staff is committed to providing each student with the highest quality education possible. We value our active parent group and know how important it is to continue to work with community partners to support all of our students and provide opportunities to learn from real-world situations.
