Update to the Community 1/13/2025

Good afternoon, I’m Jeff Harris, Superintendent for Del Norte Schools, and this is the update for the week of January 13, 2025.
Update

I’d like to start today by thanking the staff and students at Del Norte High for hosting our friends and colleagues from Rikuzentakata, Japan last week. Students and staff from Takata High had a great time here, and our students are excited for the next round of exchanges in the winter of 2026. I’d also like to thank all of the host families who opened their homes to students from Japan and all of our community partners for all that they do to support the continued opportunities for our students to participate in these exchanges.

Dates to Remember
I also want to remind everyone that schools will be closed one week from today, Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The end of next week concludes with minimum days for grades 9 through 12 only on Thursday, January 23, and Friday, January 24, to facilitate finals and mark the end of the semester. Please plan in advance, too, as there will be no school on Friday, February 14, or Monday, February 17, in honor of Lincoln’s Birthday and Presidents’ Day.

DNHS Dance Concert
In regards to student activities, Del Norte High is gearing up for the upcoming Del Norte High Winter Dance Concert, taking place at the Crescent Elk Auditorium this Friday, January 17, and Saturday, January 18, both beginning at 7 PM. Enjoy an evening of performances and support our young artists by attending this great event. Early bird tickets are just $12 at Del Norte Office Supply. Tickets are also available at the door for $15. Tickets cost $7 students and seniors, and children under 5 can attend for free. Join us for a memorable evening of entertainment!
