The last SuperIntendents Message of the month of February. Click here to learn more.

Good afternoon, I’m Jeff Harris, Superintendent of Schools for Del Norte, and this is the update for the week of February 24, 2025.

Dates to Remember

First, mark your calendars. Friday, March 7, is a minimum day district-wide and the end of the grading period for high school students.

Spelling Bee

Also, I want to invite you to the county-wide Annual Spelling Bee tomorrow night, February 25, at 6 PM, at Crescent Elk. We are always excited to support students and showcase their talents. Tomorrow night’s top speller will be the county champion and will represent our county at the state spelling bee in April, hosted by the San Joaquin County Office of Education in Stockton.

Preschool, TK, and Kindergarten Registration Now Open

Preschool and TK/Kindergarten registration is officially open.  We know how important this transition is for families, and we want to make it as smooth as possible. Early registration ensures access to the best resources and helps us prepare for your child’s arrival. Whether you’re enrolling for the first time or need help finalizing paperwork, you can visit dnusd.org/register for more information.

DNHS Sports Update

In Warriors sports news, the Varsity Boys' basketball team advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCS Division 5 Championship, narrowly falling to Sonoma Valley in a hard-fought 71-69 matchup. Meanwhile, in wrestling, the Varsity Boys' team brought home two individual titles, another team banner, and made history by qualifying three wrestlers for the state championship match for the first time since 2001.  The CIF State Championship will be in Bakersfield this Friday.  Good luck, Warriors!

As winter sports wrap up, spring sports are just getting started. We look forward to an exciting season ahead!
You can find the schedules of all upcoming athletic events by visiting dnhigh.org/sports.

That’s it for this week’s update. Stay safe and we’ll see you next Monday.
