Good afternoon, I’m Jeff Harris, Superintendent of Schools for Del Norte, and this is the update for the week of March 10, 2025.
Dates to Remember
Parent-teacher conferences are coming soon. Conferences will be held from Tuesday, March 18, through Friday, March 21. During this time, all K-8 students will be on minimum days. You should receive conference information from your school soon, if you haven’t already. If you haven’t been contacted and would like to make sure that you are able to speak with your child’s teacher, please contact your school’s office directly. I also want to remind everyone that Spring Break is March 31 through April 4.
Spelling Bee
Congratulations to all of our Spelling Bee participants on a job well done! Their dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm for learning inspired everyone in attendance. A special thank you goes out to every staff member and volunteer who made this event possible—your support and encouragement helped create an unforgettable experience for our students! The following students are the 1st place spellers in each grade: 2nd Grade – Lynette Amos (Uncharted Shores), 3rd Grade – Arabella Lanum (Bess Maxwell), in 4th grade there was a tie for first place – Aubrey Pena (Smith River) and Elijah Flores (Joe Hamilton), 5th Grade – Jagger Fruth (Castle Rock), 6th Grade – Sequoia Corpstein (Crescent Elk), 7th Grade – Max Tyler (Smith River), and 8th Grade – Kayla Neibert (Smith River). Congratulations once again to all our competitors for a fantastic Spelling Bee!
Students from grades 6, 7, and 8 have been invited to represent our county at the state spelling bee on April 26, hosted by the San Joaquin County Office of Education in Stockton.
