Good afternoon, I’m Jeff Harris, Superintendent of Schools for Del Norte, and this is the update for the week of March 24, 2025.
Dates to Remember
First, I want to remind everyone that there will be no school next week from Monday, March 31 through Friday, April 4 in observance of Spring Break. In addition, Friday, April 18 is a district-wide minimum day, followed by no school on Monday, April 21 due to a staff development day.
ELOP Summer Program Registration
Registration for our ELOP Summer Program is now open and will remain open through April 18. The program will run from June 16 through July 11, Monday through Friday (with no program on June 19 or July 4 due to state and federal holidays). The program will run from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM each day. Breakfast, lunch, and supper will be provided daily.
Placement does depend on staffing, and space may be limited, so please register early. The registration form (available in both English and Spanish) is at dnusd.org/summer. We look forward to a fun and enriching summer for everyone!
DNUSD Board Meetings
This Thursday, March 27 is the regularly scheduled board meeting. The meeting will begin with a closed session for the District at 3:30 PM and will then reconvene to open session at 4:30 PM. DNHS Sports Update
Finally, this is an action-packed week of Warrior sports! Today, Monday, March 24, Boys Tennis hosts North Coast Prep from 3:30 to 5:30 PM at Del Norte, while JV Softball faces McKinleyville at 4:00 PM and Boys JV Baseball squares off against Eureka—all here at Del Norte High. Tuesday, March 25, brings another home match for Boys Tennis against McKinleyville at 3:30 PM, with JV Softball traveling to Fortuna High for a 4:00 PM game. As the week continues, Thursday, March 27, sees Varsity Baseball heading to the Hidden Valley Tournament and Boys Golf competing at Del Norte, while Friday, March 28, takes JV Baseball on the road to Yreka. Finally, Saturday, March 29, wraps things up with Boys Tennis hosting Fortuna at 10:00 AM.
