Here is the Superintendent's Update to the Community for the week of 5/18/2026. Click to learn more.

Good afternoon. I’m Jeff Harris, Superintendent of Schools for Del Norte, and this is the update for the week of May 18, 2026.

Dates to Remember
First, please be sure to mark your calendars. There will be no school this Friday, May 22, or next Monday, May 25, in observance of the Memorial Day weekend. After the holiday, school will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

End-of-Year Ceremonies and Events
As we approach the end of the school year, Del Norte schools are preparing for moving-up celebrations, promotion ceremonies, and graduations across the district. These events are an important opportunity to recognize our students’ hard work, growth, and accomplishments. You can view the full list of end-of-year ceremony dates, times, and locations at dnusd.org/calendars. Please be sure to check your child’s school website for event-specific details that you may need to know.

Facilities Master Plan Community Input Session
Interested community members are invited to attend a districtwide Facilities Master Plan input session this Wednesday, May 20, at 4:30 PM, in the District Office Board Room, located at 301 West Washington Boulevard. The Facilities Master Plan will help guide long-term facilities priorities and future project planning across the district. Community input is an important part of this process because it helps us understand what matters most to students, families, staff, and the broader community.

We encourage anyone interested in the future of our school facilities to attend.

E3 Summer Program
Looking ahead to summer, the E3 Program, a job exploration and readiness program offered by the County Office of Education, is now accepting applications from high school students interested in summer job opportunities. E3 stands for Experience, Education, and Employment and is open to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who want to earn a paycheck and up to 10 high school elective credits this summer.

Students can pick up an application at the DNHS Counseling Office, the main offices at Castle Rock, Sunset, or Community School, or at the SMART Workforce Center at 875 5th Street.

All applications are due by this Friday, May 22. For more information, please visit the E3 Summer Youth Program on Facebook or contact Mr. Fabricius at tfabricius@dnusd.org or 707-464-0380.

Del Norte High School Sports Update
*UPDATE - 5/18/2026
Two new games have been added to the schedule. Varsity Baseball will be heading to Newark to face off against Newark Memorial High with the first pitch at 5:00 PM. Varsity Softball will be hosting Ukiah for the first round of the NCS Varsity Softball Championships. Their game starts at 5:00 PM, and tickets can be purchased online only. You can find more information on the Del Norte High School Facebook page.

As we finish the spring athletics season, Del Norte High has one final event on the schedule. Track and Field will travel to Dublin High School on Friday and Saturday, May 22nd and 23rd, to compete in the North Coast Section Meet, with event times to be determined.

We’re proud of the dedication shown by all of our athletics teams throughout the year and wish our Track and Field athletes the very best as they compete this weekend.

That’s it for this week’s update. We hope you have a great extended weekend.

Thank you.
