Update To The Community from the Superintendent. Click here to learn more.
Good afternoon. I’m Jeff Harris, Superintendent of Schools for Del Norte, and this is the update for Monday, May 19, 2025.
Dates to Remember
I’d like to start by reminding everyone that this Friday, May 23, and Monday, May 26, there will be no school in observance of Memorial Day.
E3 Summer Program
I also want to give the final invitation for eligible students to sign up for E3. This Friday, May 23, is the application deadline for the summer work readiness and experience program. The E3 Program— which stands for Experience, Education, and Employment—is a summer work program available to current sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Participants learn important soft skills, are able to interview with a number of employers, and can earn a paycheck and up to 10 elective credits over the summer.
Applications are available at the DNHS Counseling Office, the main offices at Castle Rock, Sunset, and Community School, as well as at the SMART Workforce Center (875 5th Street). Again, the deadline to apply is May 23.
For further information, you can visit the “E3 Summer Youth Program” page on Facebook or email Sunset High Principal Fabricius at tfabricius@dnusd.org or by calling 707-464-0380.
DNUSD Board Meetings
This Thursday, May 22, we have our regularly scheduled district board meeting. The District closed session begins at 3:30 PM and reconvenes for open session at 4:30 PM. You can attend the meeting in person or watch them via Zoom. To view the agenda and find the Zoom link, please visit DNUSD.org/agenda.
Sports Update
This week, the Del Norte High School Varsity Baseball team will compete in the first round of the North Coast Section (NCS) Championships. The game is scheduled for tomorrow, May 20, at 5:00 PM here on our home field. Please note that all tickets must be purchased online and in advance, as cash will not be accepted at the gate. In accordance with CIF regulations, live streaming of the event will not be available. Ticket links can be found at dnhigh.org or on the Del Norte High School Facebook page.
Later this week, on Friday and Saturday, the Warriors Track & Field team will travel to Dublin High School to participate in the North Coast Section Meet.
Good luck Warriors, and as always, you can find more info on all upcoming events at dnhigh.org/sports.
That’s it for this week’s update. I hope that you have a great long weekend.
