Superintendent's Message to the Community. Click here to learn more.

Good afternoon.  I’m Jeff Harris, Superintendent of Schools for Del Norte, and this is the update for Monday, September 22, 2025.

Dates to Remember

First, be sure and mark your calendars. Every day during the week of October 13 will be a minimum-day for all K-8 schools for parent-teacher conferences.

Board Meetings

This past Thursday, the Board’s Budget Subcommittee held its first meeting.  Future meetings will be held monthly and will include a wide range of topics.  Keep an eye out for the next meeting announcement.

This Thursday, September 25, we have our regularly scheduled board meetings. The District meeting will begin at 3:30 with closed session and will reconvene to open session at 4:30 PM. You can attend the meeting in person or participate through Zoom. To view the agenda and find the Zoom link, please visit DNUSD.org/agenda.

I also want to remind everyone about the location of the upcoming board meeting on Thursday, October 23.  This meeting will take place in Klamath at the ‘O Me-nok Learning Center as part of the Board of Trustees’ commitment to the outlying schools throughout the county. Community members are encouraged to attend in-person or through Zoom.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy Performs in Del Norte

Following a performance in Brookings yesterday, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy brought their signature sounds to the music students of Del Norte County at Crescent Elk and spent the afternoon working with our students at Del Norte High, an opportunity made possible in collaboration with the Partnership for the Performing Arts.  PPA is helping bring art, culture, and live performance to Del Norte County, while building momentum to build a new comprehensive Performing Arts Center at Del Norte High School. We’re grateful to the Partnership, along with all volunteers, sponsors, and families whose support creates opportunities that elevate student learning and strengthen our community’s creative future.
