We are making some changes to our video conferencing tool, Zoom, in order to provide an even higher level of security for our students and staff. Effective tomorrow, Friday, September 18, all students will need to authenticate to their DNCOE Zoom account using the Single Sign-On (SSO) option with their District-provided @mydnschools.org email address. When your students attempt to join their Zoom classes they may now be prompted to log in - make sure they type in "DNCOE" for the domain, then they'll be directed to authenticate using their existing student email address and password.
As always our IT Department is here to help. Should you experience any issues please call our Family Support Hotline at 707-464-7005. We are still experiencing very high call volumes, so if we don't answer immediately please leave a clear message on how to reach you, and we'll get back to you just as soon as possible. That support number again, 707-464-7005.
Thank you so much for your support and understanding as we continue to ensure the best and most secure experience is being provided for your students.
We are planning on opening school tomorrow, calmer winds, and shifting weather patterns may move the fire away from Gasquet as well as reduce smoke and particles in Del Norte. If there is any change in school opening tomorrow, we will send an all call, post on our website, and on our additional communication channels.
Any students that are displaced and unable to attend school tomorrow, their absence will be excused.
Mountain Elementary School will remain closed, students at Moutain school that are not displaced can still do school work through Seesaw, Google Classroom, and email.
An Important Message from DNUSD 9/9/2020
Due to the evacuations in Gasquet and the standby situation in Hiouchi due to smoke and wildfires, many of our students and staff are being affected, and school will be canceled for all students today.
We will let you know more soon, please continue to check dnusd.org for more information.

Mrs. Diane Wiese
Welcome to Bess Maxwell School!
I am very excited to be a part of the Bess Maxwell team!
This is my 23rd year in education and 8th year as an administrator. I have been a teacher/administrator at Joe Hamilton School, Margaret Keating School, Mountain School, Smith River School and now Bess Maxwell.
I was born and raised here in Crescent City and am very proud to call it home. After graduating from Del Norte High School, I served for three years on active duty in the Army and six years in the Air National Guard.
We here at Bess Maxwell want families to be involved in the education of their children. We welcome volunteers in the classroom - please stop in the office to find out how you can become a volunteer! We always need help in many different areas, i.e., classroom, office, and parent committees.
The Bess Maxwell staff are a warm and welcoming group of people and I look forward to meeting you.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office at 464-0310.
Diane Wiese, Principal
