Is Preschool, TK, or Kindergarten Right for Your Child?

Quick Age Guide

Preschool:

  • Children who turn 3 years old before December 1, 2025, qualify for preschool.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK):

  • Children who turn 4 years old by September 1, 2025, have the option to enroll in either TK or Preschool.
  • Children who turn 5 years old after September 1, 2025, but before September 1, 2026, are eligible for TK and will transition to kindergarten the following school year.

Kindergarten:

  • By state law, children must turn 5 years old on or before September 1, 2025, to be eligible for kindergarten.

1st Grade and Up:

  • TK may be the best fit if your child is ready for a more structured learning environment that bridges preschool and kindergarten.
