About Maintenance & Facilities
The DNUSD maintenance division handles the operational and functional checks, servicing, repairing or replacing of school equipment, machinery, building infrastructure, and utilities.
- Facilities and Construction
The mission of the Del Norte County Unified School District Facilities, Maintenance, and Construction Department is to provide a safe, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing environment to support the students in their pursuit of academic achievement and receiving a quality education at Del Norte County Unified School District.
The Facilities, Maintenance, and Construction Department consists of 44 staff members. The leadership team consists of the Director of Facilities, Maintenance, and Construction, the Facilities & Maintenance Supervisor, the Facilities, Maintenance, and Construction Secretary, the Maintenance & Grounds Coordinator, and the Custodial Coordinator.
The Custodial Team consists of 27 staff members. The Custodial Team consists of one Custodian Coordinator, one Custodian III, eight Custodian II, and seventeen Custodian I.
The Custodial Work consists of cleaning 520,411 square feet of interior building space, top down cleaning in classrooms and offices, top down cleaning in restrooms, desk top/counter top and chair cleaning, disinfecting, floor scrubbing, extracting, waxing, furniture arrangement and setup, MPR lunch table setup and cleaning, window cleaning, door knob sanitation, ledge, vent cleaning, sweeping, dusting, vacuuming,
trash/recycle removal, light bulb replacement, and safety compliance.
The Grounds Team consists of 5 staff members. The Grounds Team consists of one Grounds
Lead-person, and four Grounds Keepers.
The grounds work consists of maintaining 160 acres of land, mowing, weed-eating, maintaining 1 football field, 1 softball field, 4 baseball fields, and 5 soccer fields. The team prepares athletic fields, fertilizes, seeds, stripes, gopher abatement's, school entrances, tree and shrub maintenance, pruning, shaping, exterior trash/recycle abatement, fence maintenance and installation, roof, gutter, storm drain maintenance, playground maintenance, parking lot & playground striping, transfer station runs, and safety compliance.
