Update to the Community 3/6/2023
Good afternoon. I’m Jeff Harris, the Superintendent of Schools for Del Norte County, and this is the update for Monday, March 6.
Winter Storm Warning - Tuesday 3/7/2023
First of all, another winter storm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service beginning at 7 AM tomorrow, Tuesday, March 7, and continuing through 4 AM, Wednesday morning. We will continue to monitor the situation and follow the advice of our local safety officials. At this point, the warning is only for interior Del Norte County at elevations over 1500 ft. However, if a school or schools need to be delayed or even closed due to road conditions, we will let you know by radio, as well as through call, text, email, social media, and our website at DNUSD.org. If you have not received messages from your child’s school in response to recent inclement weather, it is important to confirm your contact information is up-to-date in your child’s school records. To update your information, please call your child’s school, again, so that we can contact you in the event of an emergency. Please note that we will only notify those families affected by the delay or closure, if there is one.
Dates to Remember
In upcoming dates, K-8 schools will host parent/teacher conferences this month, beginning next Tuesday, March 14th, and continuing through Friday, March 17th. Every day next week is a minimum day. Please contact your child’s school to schedule a meeting with your child’s teacher if you would like to meet and haven’t already been provided with an appointment.
Harry Potter Night @ Crescent Elk
One upcoming event that is open to everyone is Crescent Elk Middle School’s Harry Potter Night Fundraiser event on March 24th from 5-7 PM. Again, the event is open to the community, and everyone will have the opportunity to experience a night of magic at this Hogwarts-themed evening. This event is always an amazing time, and tickets can be purchased at the event itself, but there may be long long lines. You can avoid the lines by buying a presale wristband for $5 in the Crescent Elk Office, beginning on March 20. Get ready to immerse yourself in the wizarding world of Harry Potter while raising funds to support our Crescent Elk students.
